I graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1991 with honors in Commercial Illustration & Design with a background in Fine Arts that includes printmaking, painting, drawing and history.
I've been working in vfx since 1996 when I was hired to be the Graphic Designer for the tv show Stargate SG1 and the next year became the Graphic Design Supervisor and staff Matte Painter.
I left Stargate at the end of 2000 to join Industrial Light & Magic for StarWars Episode II and have stayed in the Bay Area since to work with Tippett Studio, Giant Killer Robots, The Orphanage, Radium and Evil Eye on projects such as The Matrix Revolutions, Fantastic Four, Superman Returns and others, making occasional forays to Los Angeles when necessary.
My work has focused mainly on Matte Painting, Visual Design, Illustration and Art Direction, though I also enjoy the technical aspect of visual effects and have worked to develop and understand the 3D and 4D aspects as best I can. The matte painting work I do usually is heavily slanted toward fully 3d and CG environment work.
I feel the base of everything I do is a solid background in and love of the arts and an interest in understanding and working with technology, both established and emerging. Its an exciting time to be involved with visual effects.
